Sadowski & Ryan Shutout Concordia, Spartans Win Two

Starting pitchers Scott Sadowski (on right) and Kevin Ryan (pictured below) combined for fourteen scoreless innings to lead St. Thomas Aquinas to a pair of ECC victories over Concordia 3-1, 3-0. The two wins propelled STAC into the #3 seed for the post season with a 15-9 record. STAC finished their conference schedule going 13-1. The Spartan starting pitchers have not allowed a run in the last four ECC games for a streak of twenty-seven scoreless innings.

In game one the offense was sparked by a bases loaded RBI walk from Dan Stroud and a RBI single from Joe Giustino. After Sadowski's sparkling performance, Dave Schwartz came in the 9th inning to pick up his 6th save of the year.

In game two, a pair of triples from Nick Barbalato and Vin Malzahn led to a pair of runs. George Wargo knocked in a third run with an RBI single. Ryan pitched a complete game (7 innings).

The Spartans will face Bridgeport tomorrow in the opening round of playoffs.  STAC will be the home seed.  The site will be announced Wednesday morning.
