Game Three

The Spartans took the third and final game of the series against Adelphi with an 8-7 win.
Down 5-1 in the 6th inning, STAC cut the lead to 5-3 on a Javier Diaz homerun and an RBI single from Mike Triana. Kevin Sharpe led of the 7th with a triple. Two batters later John Muller would shave the lead to 5-4 with an RBI single. An Adelphi throwing error brought in the tieing run.
With two outs in the 8th the Spartans mounted another rally on consecutive singles by Sharpe and Jonathan Garvey. With two outs and a full count, John Mazzello delivered the game winning 2 RBI Double. Muller would come on to save the game in the 9th. After two quick outs, Muller would run into some trouble before inducing the final batter to ground weakly to first. Mike Pasch threw eight innings in picking up the win.

Game One
With the score tied at zero in the top of the second, the Spartans
scored four runs on three hits, including two on a John Mazzello
single to right field. Adelphi responded with one run in the bottom
of the inning. The Panthers and Spartans traded two run innings in
the sixth, but Adelphi knotted the score at six in the bottom of
the seventh thanks in part to a Tropiano home run.
With the score still tied at six in the top of the ninth Javier Diaz delivered what would be the game winning RBI single to left field. In the bottom of the ninth, John Muller would come in to strike out the last two Adelphi batters to secure the win.
Fernando Peralta had two doubles, scored two runs, and drove in one. Mazzello went 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs, a walk, and a run. Andrew Nash picked up the win with two innings of two hit, no run relief.
Game Two
The second game started out as a pitchers duel, with neither team
able to get on the board through four innings. The Spartans
mustered a single run in the top of the fifth, but Adelphi erupted
for eight in the bottom of the frame to take an 8-1 advantage on
their way to a 9-4 victory.
Adelphi will travel to STAC to finish out the three game set at Veteran's Memorial Field in Orangeburg, NY.
