Mike returns to St. Thomas Aquinas College, a place that he is all too familiar with, as Looney was the part-time Strength and Conditioning Coach from 2005 to 2012, before deciding to leave STAC to become a physical education teacher for students with special needs at St. Dominic's School in Blauvelt, NY., a profession which he still works in to date.
In addition to his role as Strength and Conditioning Coach, Looney has also been hired as Wide Receivers Coach for the Spartans NEW Sprint Football program, which begins play in the Fall of 2018.
When he's not in the Kraus Fitness Center, Aquinas Hall Gym or on Spartan Field instructing our athletes, Mike also runs a popular summer athletic performance camp for kids, called BLAST, which is now entering its thirteenth year.
Mike Looney received his Bachelors Degree from Byrant University, holds a Master's degree in Physical Education from Manhattanville College and is Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach through the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA).
A Rockland County Native, Looney played football and lacrosse at Clarkstown North where he graduated in 1983. He was a two time all-league wide receiver. in his senior year, he earned all-state honors and set several county receiving records, some of which still stand today.
